Meet Dr. Jennifer Orr, FACOG
Certified by The American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology
Growing up in Wilson, North Carolina, Jennifer has always had a love of the water; so it’s no surprise that she would eventually move her practice to the North Carolina coast!
In private practice since 1997, Jennifer has a unique and caring spirit which has enabled her to create a special connection with her many women patients over the years. She is a sought after physician, advisor, and friend, always ready to listen and help. She performs well-woman care and in-office gynecological surgery procedures.
Always focused on family, Jennifer is married to her high school sweetheart, David, and they have two sons, Caleb & Jackson. Jennifer enjoys reading, designing jewelry, and hanging out with her three special men in her life.
Meet Dr. Maribeth Loynes, FACOG
Maribeth has been in private practice since 2000, and here on the Crystal Coast since 2009.
She believes being able to provide care to the women of Carteret County, especially in a practice like GirlTalk, is a wonderful opportunity to use her skills and positively impact many lives. She enjoys meeting both the long term needs of well-woman care and the short term demands of in-office gynecological surgery procedures.
Maribeth makes her home in Morehead City with her husband, James, and their 3 children, Anna, Matthew and Ellie. She enjoys sewing, baking and anything to do with water. In fact, her entire family is part mermaid, often found frolicking in the sound.
Meet Nita Mercer, FNP-C
Nita has provided primary and gynecologic care to the women of Carteret County since 2002. If you ask Nita why she enjoys working in women’s health, she will tell you it is the special bond she forms with her patients. She has built that special bond with her patients by carefully listening to their concerns. She treats her patients how she wants to be treated, with compassion and empathy.
As a working mom, she understands the busy juggling acts of women today. While not at work, Nita can be found cheering on her son Tyler at soccer games or watching her daughter Jenna, dance or surf.
Nita and her husband, Jimmy, are both originally from Raleigh but prefer coastal living. Nita has considered Morehead City home since moving here in 1998. Nita enjoys photography (especially taking photographs of her children), boating, and water activities. Her favorite pastime is being on the shore with friends, while watching her children play in the water.
Meet Allison Nelson, DNP, FNP-BC
As a lifetime resident of Carteret County, Allison is very excited about living her dream of serving the community that she loves so much.
Allison received her Doctor of Nursing Practice with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner from East Carolina University. She has worked in the area as a registered nurse since 2014. Providing care to women as they navigate the various walks of life has always been an interest of hers.
With Allison’s strong Carteret County roots, it was no surprise to her family and friends that she would follow her heart back home. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Zac, and they have two dogs, Cabella and Jax.
Meet Susan Lorencz, FNP-C
Susan is a North Carolina native growing up in Greensboro. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UNC-Chapel Hill and her Master of Science in Nursing at Duke University.
Getting to know her patients and developing a relationship with each of them is how Susan has provided healthcare to women since 2006. Susan treats each patient the way that she would want to be treated.
Wanting to be closer to family Susan and her husband Shay, a Carteret County native, and their two children recently moved to the area. Susan enjoys spending time with her family and watching her children play. She also enjoys boating and anything related to the water, reading, and playing tennis.
Meet Megan Hughes, PA-C
Megan has called Carteret County home since 2006 when her father was stationed at MCAS
Cherry Point. Megan received her bachelor’s degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and always had
hopes of becoming a Physician Assistant. After working in women’s healthcare following
graduation, she knew that this was her true passion. She earned her Master of Physician
Assistant Studies from ECU and is now ready to care for the patients of our area.
Megan feels a true connection to women and has a specific interest in prioritizing women’s
health in the grand scheme of health care. She believes education and understanding are a key
part of a successful patient-provider relationship and approaches each patient with insight and compassion.
When not working, Megan enjoys spending time with her husband, Zack, on their boat or on
the beach with family. Having been a dancer growing up, Megan lives an active lifestyle and
enjoys finding new and fun ways to exercise. She and her husband also enjoy traveling but
have found there is no place they love to call home more than the coast of NC.
