Adolescent Gynecology

Gynecologists in Morehead City, NC

At GirlTalk & Gynecology, our office has been designed to be welcoming and comforting to women of all ages. For younger patients especially, attending an annual exam can be intimidating, so we work to remove the negative anticipation. Instead of paper vests, we provide our patients with fuzzy socks, cushy robes, and relaxing music. We believe in providing patients with a comfortable atmosphere and no detail has been spared. Attending a well-woman visit at an early age can help young women become acquainted with the many resources our practice has to offer.

Our providers and staff work to help patients feel at ease when they are in our care. Our practice was founded in 2010 to provide women through Eastern North Carolina with professional, nurturing, patient-focused gynecologic care. We are committed to providing you with a safe, open environment where you can address your concerns about your health and wellbeing.

Our adolescent gynecology services include:

Routine Annual Exams

During this exam, we will provide you with information on personal hygiene and healthcare. It is also an opportunity for your provider to make note of any changes in your health, as well as address any issues or problems you have been facing. Attending a routine annual exam is an important part of establishing a relationship with your provider and discuss how to maintain a healthy lifestyle as your body continues to grow and change.

Diagnosis & Treatment of Conditions

There are many common gynecologic problems younger patients may face. We provide treatment for conditions such as: heavy bleeding, menstrual cramps, pelvic and abdominal pain, and delayed first period. Together, we will discuss the available treatment options and any lifestyle changes you may need to make to alleviate your symptoms.

Gardasil 9 Vaccine(s)

The Gardasil 9 vaccine is recommended to adolescent patients as a preventive measure against HPV, which can lead to cervical cancer. This is a series of 3 injections administered over a 6-month time period.

General Wellness & Prevention Programs

These programs are centered around educating patients on the risks of sexual activity, information about abstinence, pregnancy prevention, and protection from sexually transmitted diseases. Our providers and staff work to create an environment where young women can communicate their needs and concerns, and feel safe in doing so. Helping all patients take charge of their health is one of our top priorities.
